SANTA

If there is one thing you can count on, it's that your kids will be sick during holidays. I think Bauer has been sick for every birthday and every Christmas since he was born. Granted, that's only 3 1/2 years but still... This year was no exception. He started getting sick the Sunday before Christmas and just kept getting worse and worse. The night of Christmas Eve was horrible. He was coughing so badly that he couldn't sleep and he was tired and hurting. Just after going into his bed, he called for Brian and told him that he needed to throw up. We ran him into the bathroom but all that came up was a little bit of mucus...and some blood. It was so sad. I felt so bad for the poor little guy. He finally got to sleep and actually slept very well. Since we had a party at 11:00, we had to wake Bauer up to open presents from Santa. I went in just after 8:30 and tired to wake him up but he just said "I'm tired." Then he rolled over and went back to sleep. I had to try a few times and finally just picked him up and brought him out to see his presents. He was most excited to see his stocking filled so that is where he started. By the time he got through the stocking, he was a little more awake and seemed to be feeling better. He opened his presents and did so much better this year. He was very excited about everything he got and didn't take much convincing to get him to open more. Last year we had to force him to open most of them. I loved to see the twinkle in his little eyes as he opened all of his gifts. Watching that was the highlight of my Christmas.
